Water mill Gollmitz

The small village of Gollmitz is located in the middle of the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park, which offers the best conditions for activities such as canoeing, cycling, hiking or an exciting nature tour. The wooded and water-rich nature park with its steep slopes and elongated channel lakes is home to rare species such as the European pond turtle, osprey, white-tailed eagle and lesser spotted eagle.

The four lovingly designed, ecologically renovated vacation apartments with adobe walls and hemp insulation are suitable for vacations of two to four guests. In the listed water mill, sustainability is writ large. The largest water wheel north of Berlin not only supplies the mill with climate-neutral electricity, but even generates more energy than the house and yard can consume. The water flow is converted for hot water production and heating purposes via a heat pump. A solar and biopurification system complete the environmental friendliness of the house.

In 300 m distance from the house is a bus stop, where on weekends also stops the UckermarkShuttle with bike rack.

The equipment of the different apartments includes a bathroom with shower and a kitchen, or a kitchenette. In addition, the fireplace room with the adjoining communal kitchen forms the cozy focal point in the watermill. The sun terrace directly at the rippling water wheel and the courtyard of the mill with sauna house are oases of peace. Here one likes to retreat to enjoy a good book and a glass of wine. In cooperation with our local partners, high ropes course, adventure, bike or canoe tours and other activities can be offered.

The watermill offers bread baking and beer brewing courses in the house. This can then be enjoyed in a cozy evening around the campfire or in the mill room. The entire mill building is a non-smoking area. Pets are possible on request.

Our house is climate-friendly because we

  • Use geo- and solar energy to generate heat yourself
  • have ecologically renovated the historic mill building
  • have reused existing building materials
  • have used natural building materials such as wood and hemp fiber
  • offer our guests rental bikes and canoe tours
  • have created shelter /nesting opportunities for animals (bats, swallows, kingfishers)
