Wind turbine tour

Around 50 km through the north of the Uckermark along small and large wind turbines.

The tour can start conveniently at Prenzlau station. Rental bikes and e-bikes are available there. Drive along Stettiner Straße for a few hundred meters in the direction of the city center and turn left at the first set of traffic lights onto Brüssower Allee. From now on, the path leads along the WindradTour. The first wind fields are just outside the city. You can get very close to the wind turbines between Schenkenberg and Tornow. When you stand right next to one of these giants, it is hard to believe that, with a hub height of 64 m, they are one of the smaller types. The first turbines were erected here back in the 1990s. Continue past Tornow Castle to Damerow with its former manor, where a museum and café invite you to take a break.
From Nieden, the WindradTour runs along the Berlin-Usedom long-distance cycle route. About halfway along the route, the route passes Nechlin station. Here you can return to Prenzlau by a short route (train runs every 2 hours, journey time 9 minutes).

With the silhouette of wind turbines on the horizon, the route runs parallel to the small river Ucker back to Prenzlau. It’s worth taking a short break at the farmer’s cheese dairy in Bandelow. In addition to different types of cheese, there are many other regional products.
